For our client Novartis Pharma AG, we are looking for a motivated and reliable (m/f/d)

Principal Engineer II 100%

• Identify technical solutions (including alternatives) for problem statements from NVS process experts, covering process challenges, lab setup issues, and optimization/adaptation of existing solutions
• Address issues from lab-, bench-, or pilot-scale processes in non-GMP, aseptic/low-bioburden environments, including flow processes for protein products with organic solvents (e.g., Octanol)
• Define technical requirements (e.g., equipment specs, URS) and engage vendors, suppliers, or partners to develop proposals
• Execute rapid prototyping where applicable (e.g., 3D printing)
• Prepare cost estimates, timelines, and delivery plans (installation, FAT/SAT) for solution selection
• Review/approve project documentation (drawings, P&IDs, CAD layouts, calculations, datasheets)
• Manage engineering projects, ensuring compliance with technical, HSE, and regulatory requirements (e.g., ATEX), tracking cost and schedule, and reporting deviations
• Conduct FAT/SAT, commissioning, and facility/infrastructure adaptations
• Resolve project deficiencies with suppliers and partners
• Prepare technical and local documentation (HSE, handling, maintenance) for handover
• Perform provisional and final handovers to NVS

• Degree in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering (Dipl. Ing. / M.Sc. / B.Sc.) or equivalent
• Fluent English; proficient in local language
• 5+ years in pharma, food, or cosmetics engineering
• Proven experience in processing pharmaceutical, food, or cosmetic products; preferred experience with suspension systems and protein-containing products
• Knowledge of aseptic/bioburden-controlled processes and ATEX/SWISS HSE requirements for organic solvents in lab/pilot scale
• Skilled in scale-up/scale-out, CAD, and rapid prototyping (e.g., 3D printing)
• Experience with Novartis Basel, local partners, and NVS systems (procurement, HSE, PQS) is an advantage
• Strong communication, teamwork, goal-driven self-management, and problem-solving skills
• Creative, innovative, and hands-on approach to developing technical solutions
• Strong negotiation, planning, and project management abilities
